Special edition of the Orchard Rewind this week.
I know I've missed a couple of weeks on the rewind but gave you a little more this time :)
Second week in our series Deal or No Deal where we're talking about generosity and management of our resources. We used M&M's to illustrate the amount of money and material possessions we have. The reality is that they aren't ours to begin with. The M&M's belong to God and come from God - I'm just a manager of those resources.
Life changing thought if you really let that sink in and permeate how you handle your money and material possessions.
Lastly - Our rendition of Pink Floyd's, Money just plain rocked. It's not an easy song either considering the changing time signatures and how drummers/bassists love 7/8 time. I'm kidding of course. Guys you rocked my face off!
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 21
Update on the music, message, lighting, audio and multimedia at the Orchard - all in 60-seconds.
Ended the series "I Am Spirit". Definitely recommend the podcasts if you weren't there for this series. The song "We Shine" was an awesome song to end with and my team rocked my face off!
How was your weekend?
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 20
An overwhelming response to the reposting of the Orchard Rewind last week, so here is the rewind for this last weekend (Jan 19/20).
The last two weekends we've had some really good house and monitor mixes (great job audio team). The continued use of some of our newer lighting, as few as they are, has been a huge improvement as well.
How was your weekend?
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 19
Yes... it's back! The Orchard Rewind with a twist! I'm bringing it back to the blog but only 60 seconds long.
Would love your feedback. Is 60 seconds enough?
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 18 - Raw
Uncut.
Unedited.
Raw.
No background music. Just me and the rewind.
Setlist and review of August 5th at the Orchard in Aurora, IL.
12.5 years ago I baptized my wife.
I've baptized both my daughters.
I've also lead members of my arts teams over the last several years to Christ and had the honor of baptizing them.
This last Sunday I had the privilege of baptizing alongside my wife and others on staff. Together we baptized over 100 people who wanted to go public with their faith. This date will live in my memory for the rest of my life. It ranks up there as one of the most amazing events I've ever been a part of.
This is what it is all about. Video of the event is in the editing room now.
Peace.

Rewinding the Orchard
Well as I figure out what I want to do the Orchard Rewinds, I wanted to keep you all up to date on what's been happening on the Arts side at the Orchard the last several weeks.
We've been in a series called Rockin' The Orchard 2, where we take 6 weeks to journey through 6 decades of rock 'n' roll. Each song is the catalyst for the message each of those weeks and is chosen by the speaker. This has been a great opportunity to bring in other speakers to give Scott (our lead pastor) a break.
Here are the setlists from the last few weeks.
07.15.07 Setlist - Rockin' The Orchard (70's)
Medley - "Sweet Home Alabama" (Lynard Skynard),
"China Grove" (Doobie Brothers), and
"Taking Care of Business" (Bachman-Turner Overdrive)... Ken sang this one.
Tell The World - Hillsong United
Everyday - Lincoln Brewster
I will Survive - Gloria Gaynor (Joni sang this one and rocked the house)
Once Again - Matt Redman
07.22.07 Setlist - Rockin' The Orchard (80's)
Medley - "For Those About To Rock" (ACDC),
"Jump" (Van Halen),
"One Way To Rock" (Sammy Hagar),
"We Will Rock You" (Queen), and
"I Love Rock 'n' Roll" (Joan Jett and the Black Hearts)
Everybody Praise The Lord - Lincoln Brewster
Awesome Is The Lord Most High - Chris Tomlin
Pride (In The Name Of Love) - U2
Everlasting God - Lincoln Brewster
Please understand, this series is a fun summer series we have done for two summers now and people are really inviting their friends to be a part of it. People actually come early to hear what the walk-in medley is going to be each week because they know their friends will know the music. It totally brings down defenses and people are responding to the messages in a very positive way.
I actually have a rewind filmed this week with my family while we were away the first part of this week, so stay tuned!
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 16
Hard to believe - three posts in one day :)
Here's the latest Orchard Rewind. Not sure what to do with these anymore and not sure they are necessarily being of help to anyone out there.
Suggestions? What would you like to see that would be of help to you (or just entertaining, since that's why I'm really here :)?
This weeks rewind might be a bit hard to hear but it was a chance to do the recap with my team (or part of it) from this last weekend. I lead with a fantastic group of people and quite frankly, none of what happens on the weekend at The Orchard could happen without them. They are faithful. There are no egos on this team, which is refreshing. They are all extremely talented people who want to be used to lead others into the presence of God.
So, thanks team! From the music to multimedia, from audio to video you all rock my face off!
Anyway, here's the rewind.
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 15
Better late than never.
Setlist from 6/24/07. We're conducting some audio experiments during the week to find some better solutions for improving our sound in our room. We also held our first 'group' auditions this last weekend... went very well.
Anyway, how was your weekend?
Peace.

Orchard Rewind 12
Well here it is - live and nearly unedited.
Setlist from Sunday and First Wednesday this week. I omitted the fact (for some reaason) that we played/sang "It's Not Over" by Daughtry as our walk in this week. I also neglected to mention that I botched the third verse on How Great Thou Art... I ask everyone to sing with me and I start singing the wrong verse, so I say, "let's try that again". Brilliant. They really sang out on that song though.
Great week. In fact, so great you should count how many times I say the word great in this episode.
We have a new stage design for our new series we started called Sacred Roots and I filmed this on my Mac in our auditorium. Notice that my backdrop makes me look like I have horns at various times through this episode as well. It's great! Like doggone Tony the Tiger.
Anyway, if you can't laugh at yourself you'll go crazy.
Peace.

Orchard Rewind Episode 11
This week I had the opportunity to film the rewind with a couple of friends and great teammates. Ken (on the left) is one of our extraordinary guitarists and Doug (on the right) is our keyboardist, bassist, guitarist, and vocalist (he can do it all). Joni is the voice you hear off camera (awesome vocalist).
So, don't mind the cutting up before finishing our set for the second service.
Starting a new series next week called Sacred Roots - should be great.
Peace.

It also includes my youngest son, so enjoy!
Peace.

Orchard Rewind Episode 7
Setlist from 4/22 with commentary and (for the first time) video clips from the service. Sound and video are very crude but you get the rough idea.
You notice a lot of things when you actually video tape a weekend :) For example, I didn't realize I was so pasty looking :)) I'm sure some sun and better video imaging can take care of that!
How was your weekend?
Peace.
