Tagged!

Ok... so I've been tagged by multiple family members (thanks Keith and Kristen) so here goes.

Here are the rules:

1. Post these rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself.
3. Tag 6 people at the end of you post (I’m making this optional to relieve any guilt, including my own for continuing this).
4. If you get tagged, DO IT and pass on the tag.
5. [Rule 5 was deleted because the author of this blog considered it lame :)]

Here's my six things randomly selected for your reading enjoyment:

  1. If I lived alone or my family would let me, my house would be 68 degrees in the summer and 62 degrees in the winter. I love the cold and am most comfortable when it's cooler.
  2. I love chocolate pudding. No I mean I LOVE chocolate pudding. My wife graciously makes me a giant bowl of home-made chocolate pudding for me on my birthday.
  3. I have lived in at least 14 different houses in 7 different states. My current house marks the longest I've lived in any one house.
  4. My hair use to be one-length down to my belly-button. Now I have it shaved off every week.
  5. I have within the last year listened to more books on CD than I have read in the same year. My mind wonders like crazy when I try to read so it takes me a long time to get through a book.
  6. Went to college to become a sound engineer, ended up going into music education, then into electrical engineering, computer science and finally graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology. I have the classes and equivalence for three additional AA degrees in the previous subjects.
That's it for me! Wow... took me forever to post these. I'm not tagging anyone and everyone at the same time :)

What's a random thing that most people don't know about you?

The Hoff - A Must See

Just in case you didn't check out Huebner's comment on the Knight Rider post below, you've got to check out this music video by Hasselhoff.

There are no words to describe it. You just have to see it for yourself. And the bigger surprise is that there are actually enough other music videos of "The Hoff" that I could post them for a couple weeks.

This one did make me laugh.

Enjoy the Hasselhoff video of the week.
Peace.

Birdie BBQ

Had to do it. They weren't coming back to the nest anymore.
So I torched it.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out my wife's post here, here and here. That should give you the idea :)

BTW, no birds were hurt in the making of this bonfire. I have a short video too for those who want it.

Peace.

"Overwhelmed by the din..."

Wow! Just read Seth Godin's post in response to the Washington Post article about Joshua Bell...

An internationally acclaimed virtuoso violinist ignored in the D.C. metro station. He plays for the hundreds who pass by without most even noticing. Presentation and placement makes a huge difference.

What I think I like most is that Seth reminds that we get so caught up in our own lives and we get so bombarded with the advertising around us that we ignore the sweet sounds in life.

We forget to smell the roses.

What did you think of this? Do you agree with the conclusion?

Peace.

Easter... Planning Already for 2008?

Every week at The Orchard, we get together as a staff and discuss wins from the weekend and try to discover areas that need attention or improvement. Easter was a huge win, especially having so many volunteers involved over the weekend. Lot's of things we learned for next year, but a lot of things that went very well too.

Thinking about next year and what we might consider doing differently, I found this great post about Easter and the dates for Easter on Tim Steven's blog. I never knew (but always wondered) why the dates fluctuated so much.

Looks like the 2008 has Easter being set for March 23rd... a bit earlier next year.

Here's what it looks like for the next several years:

2009 - April 12
2010 - April 4
2011 - April 24
2012 - April 8

Peace.

Moto Photos

Found these under optical illusions but thought they were pretty cool. If you look close at them, you'll see that they are Harley Davidson motorcycle parts placed in a design to form a human face. One of Harley's ad campaigns geared toward custom bikes.

What do you think?
Peace.

Incredible Art

Check out this image... it's actually all fake - the water, the sewer grate the hose and the water stream from the hose. It's all part of a 3D chalk drawing by Julian Beever.

Incredible! You definitely need to check out his website. He draws (with chalk mind you) on a flat walkway, yet he makes it look 3-dimensional.

He actually does two art forms here: the 3-D drawing and the photo shot - it's all perspective based. These two (the one above and ths one) are my favorites.

Field Trip - Stage 1

My wife and I had a great opportunity to hang out with the rest of the staff and their spouses yesterday in downtown Chicago. We went to the Museum of Science and Industry and checked out the Body Works 2 exhibit. That was a very cool experience!

This gallery holds more than 20 deceased bodies of men, women, a colt, a couple camels and some birds. You get to see how the body works, what the tissues and organs look like (not necessarily for the faint hearted), how ligaments and tendons work, etc. All of it is real, but the water and fat has been replaced with a pliable plastic.

That kind of gets a bit sad, especially for my wife - these were all real people, real bodies during various development stages and ages. They once were alive, but no more. Now they teach people about the mysteries of the human body. God just continually amazes me!

Anyway, a great time - especially hanging with my wife and my friends. More later.

Peace.

Movies By Mail

I love movies. Some friends of ours got us a subscription to Netflix for Christmas.

Netflix has actually been a pretty cool service.

Apparently, our mailperson must think so as well. The last three DVD's we've received have been open.

So far none of them have been damaged and we've got the DVD's on or near the times we were scheduled to. Not sure what to do about it yet but we are eager to check out the next couple of movies to see if they show up the same way.

Kind of funny yet kind of creepy at the same time. I feel violated in a way. I'll keep you posted on what we find out.

Peace.

Bridge or Tunnel

Pretty wild bridge if you ask me.

Not sure how I'd feel about driving underwater, especially if it was storming out. Kind of creative though - you don't have to raise the bridge to let ships pass through!

So would this be a bridge, a tunnel or a brinnel? Maybe a tundge or a brunnel?

Peace.

What's More Fun Than Spiders on Drugs?

I saw this on Kem Meyer's blog and thought it was cool. The one on caffeine is especially intriguing, especially since I drink a LOT of coffee.
